Back Thru The Future (BTTF) is a recognized industry leader in the proper environmental handling of electronics and secure data destruction for hard drives, PDAs, cell phones, cds and backup media. Based in Ogdensburg, New Jersey with close proximity to New York City, BTTF is a Certified Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE). The company was founded by Melanie J. Haga in 1990 as one of the first computer recycling companies in the United States. BTTF clients include Fortune 500 companies, Amlaw 100 firms and prominent pharmaceutical, healthcare and financial institutions, as well as federal, state and local government agencies.

Total Technology Disposal Services

  • Safe Harbor Data Destruction - This fully auditable, permanent and cost-efficient service physically destroys electronic data devices and media. Resulting fragments are then melted, eliminating any possibility of loss or exposure of sensitive data.
  • Green Earth Technology Disposal– Registered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and New Jersey’s Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), BTTF’s environmental compliance documentation is legal in all 50 states.
  • BTTF Compliance Library – This password-protected online archive of client compliance documentation is available to authorized users 24/7/365, allowing them to research all relevant project documentation.

Operations
Back Thru The Future operates a 40,000 square foot recycling facility in Northern New Jersey. The facility is a National Association for Information Destruction (NAID) AAA Certified secure data destruction facility for hard drive destruction. All electronic media destruction is performed on site with a meticulous audit trail and documentation system.

Melanie J. Haga is founder, President and Chief Executive Officer. Daniel F. Bayha is Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.

Milestone Dates and Awards

  • 1990 - Back Thru the Future is founded by Melanie Haga in Morristown, NJ.
  • 2000 - BTTF is selected by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to participate in a pilot program for anticipated new electronic recycling regulations.
  • 2001 - BTTF becomes one of the first electronic recycling companies in the country to receive Federal Environmental Protection Agency and State of New Jersey DEP registrations as an electronic recycling facility.
  • 2005 - BTTF is the first dedicated electronic recycling facility in the country to receive certification by NAID (National Association For Information Destruction) as a secure data destruction facility for plant-based hard drive destruction.
  • 2007 - BTTF receives Sussex County Chamber of Commerce Entrepreneurial Success Award in NJ.
  • 2007 - BTTF receives New Jersey Small Business Development Centers (NJSBDC) Success Award.
  • 2008 - Sussex County Economic Development Partnership Environmental Leadership Award.
  • 2008 - Morris County (NJ) Chamber of Commerce Innovation in Business Award.
